About this Event
The exhibition builds upon the landmark exhibition 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art (2025), developed through a collaboration between MDHS Museums, University Archives and curators Professor Marcia Langton AO, Judith Ryan and Shanysa McConville, with MDHS Museum Director, Dr Jacqueline Healy, Curator HBAM, Rohan Long, Registrar, Tessie Scott and Museum Officer, Sharon Wong. The reinstallation brings together more than 100 objects from the MDHS Museum collections and University archives. Alongside these historical materials, the exhibition includes recent acquisitions: Brook Andrew’s Photo-Lithographs series from Nations Party (2016), Madi Mercer’s UNKNOWN (2025) and Julie Gough’s The Missing.
Dr Ross L Jones is a Senior Research Fellow in the Indigenous History of the University of Melbourne Project and co-editor of Dhoombak Goobgoowana: A History of Indigenous Australia and the University of Melbourne, Volumes 1 and 2. His research has explored the University’s history of eugenics, scientific racism and its relationship with Indigenous Australia.
