About this Event

This is a workshop by Zainab Sultan. Through film screening and discussion, this workshop will focus on:

  • Impact Fundamentals 101,
  • impact strategies,
  • case studies of documentaries with successful impact campaigns,
  • practical community outreach and how it can be implemented,
  • audience engagement,
  • and partnership-building strategies.


The goal is to provide participants with actionable examples and case studies that they can adapt to their own projects. Outcomes include:

  • What is impact producing and role of impact producers
  • Impact goals and how to develop a strategy
  • Utilize documentary films as case studies for impact
  • Film impact campaign evaluation
  • Impact Funders
  • Additional resources around discussion guides, impact budgets etc


“Stand Up for Madinah” follows the first female Muslim legislator in Delaware as she challenges the current administration on the ongoing genocide in Gaza. When she is not confronting the establishment, Madinah is spending time at comedy clubs trying to find success as a local stand up comedian.


Zainab Sultan is an award-winning journalist, filmmaker, and impact producer whose work expands how Muslims in America are seen and understood. Raised in Saudi Arabia, she spent several years working as a journalist in Doha, Qatar, where she developed a deep passion for storytelling and community-centered reporting. Her latest documentary, Stand Up for Madinah, premiered on Al Jazeera English. Zainab also served as the outreach and impact manager for To K*ll a Tiger, the documentary nominated for the 96th Academy Awards. Most recently, she worked as an impact producer on The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony, which premiered at the 2026 Tribeca Festival.



About Termite TV’s process:

After a successful year-long studio residency at Cherry Street Pier exploring the theme of Understories and after decades of having created dozens of collaborative programs, working across multiple media platforms, we’re launching our second year-long residency to explore the theme of Mending. Workshops are offered through artist collaborations with the intention to cultivate inspiration and experimental material for our community of media artists.
