About this Event
This time, we'll follow the Rond de Tungelroyse Beek route, which takes us through De Krang, a nature reserve near the village of Swartbroek in the municipality of Weert. Check the route here.
We will walk around De Krang, a large nature reserve surrounding the town Swartbroek (municipality of Weert), which serves as a breeding ground and stopover site for many bird species. What makes this place unique is the variations in elevation and moisture levels supporting a diverse range of plant and other animal species like butterflies. De Krang is part of the Nature Park Kempenbroek, a large natural area that has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
So, let’s enjoy this unique route together!
Whether you have attended previous Green Café events and would like to keep engaging and build a community, or you are a first-timer looking to connect with like-minded people and get to know some Dutch natural areas outside Eindhoven, this walk is for everyone, so feel free to invite some friends!
This walk will be group-guided by Zarina and Mayra, supporting members of the Green Café Hiking team.
Note: Public transport connections to the starting point are limited, so we encourage everyone to carpool where possible. Please email us at [email protected] and let us know whether you can offer a ride, would like to join someone else's car or drive directly to the starting point. This will help us coordinate the journey and reduce the number of cars needed.
- If travelling together from Eindhoven: We'll meet at 9:50 at the parking space of Sint Bonifaciuspark located at Sint Lidwinastraat 1, 5643 RS Eindhoven. There you can park your car or bike. And we will leave at 10:00 sharp. Please arrive on time.
- If meeting us directly at the starting point: We'll meet at Parking Kerk Swartbroek, Sint Cornelisplein 8, 6005 PD Weert. The hike will start at 10:30.
- If you travel from Eindhoven as a passenger in someone else's car, a €5 contribution towards petrol costs is required
Practicalities:
- Clothing: Please wear long pants and long sleeves (due to nettles and insects), bring good walking shoes and a rain jacket if needed. The walk will only be cancelled if it’s raining hard.
- Food and water: We'll take a short lunch break along the way. If you'd like, bring some extra snacks to share with the group!
