About this Event
As part of By a Woman,, Onomatopee invites you to join a series of three one-day RISO zine workshops with participating artists Leonie Brandner, Müge Yılmaz, and Pei-Ying Lin.
Starting from the works presented in the exhibition and a prompt developed by each artist, a small group of participants will spend the day making, exchanging, and experimenting with images, texts, and found materials. Working hands-on through collage, drawing, writing, copying, and layering, each group will collectively develop a small two-color Risograph zine, then print and bind it together by the end of the day.
Participants are invited to bring their own images, texts, photographs, drawings, notes, or other printed matter to work with. No previous risograph or design experience is required.
Session 2: Müge Yılmaz
Sunday, November 15 | 10:00 – 17:00
In this second session, Müge Yılmaz invites us to map real, fictional, and ancestral stories into a collective zine of past, future, and speculative femme identities.
Each participant will contribute a chapter to a shared compilation book, bringing to life the story and adventures of a woman and/or femme-identifying person (historical figures, family members, imaginary characters, or autobiographies are all welcome). Working with translucent paper, collage, text, drawings, and photography, we will weave these narratives together into a two-color zine printed in Fluorescent Orange & Purple and bound with metal rings by the end of the day.
What to bring:
• Research materials on a person: Choose a woman or femme-identifying person to focus on (real, fictional, family member, or self) and bring research materials or stories.
• Visuals & notes: Bring drawings, photographs, notes, or abstract imagery to mix with text.
