Redressing Systemic Biases in Research & Living Your Values in Academia
Tools from Feminist Science Studies
Universities are often described as impartial sites of knowledge creation. But what counts as a valid research question, methodology, or form of evidence is shaped by cultural forces and disciplinary histories.
This workshop invites graduate students from all fields to examine the ongoing impacts of eugenics, colonialism, and patriarchy in academia—and consider how we can challenge them.
Participants will gain:
- Intellectual frameworks from feminist science studies
- Tools for recognizing systemic bias in research
- Strategies for aligning academic practice with personal values
- Approaches for taking action toward greater equity
- New ways to strengthen the accuracy, relevance, and impact of research
