About this Event

You are invited to attend a Special Action honoring our Neighborhood Leaders on behalf of Ryana Parks-Shaw, Mayor Pro Tem!

Below are a few helpful details.

Thursday, September 24, 2026

Kansas City-City Hall 414 12th StreetKansas City, MO 64106

After the special action item, keep the celebration going! Stop by the Neighborhood Services Department on the 4th floor for light snacks and refreshments. Mingle with fellow neighborhood leaders, make connections and get inspired by others working to strengthen their neighborhoods and improve their communities.

Parking: The Wolfe garage entrance is at 1100 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO 64106 (between 11th & 12th St marked with a “P”) across from City Hall. Carpooling is encouraged, as we can issue a maximum of three parking passes per resolution. I will bring parking passes to the Council Chambers to cover the cost.

Entrance: Use the 11th street entrance (facing the Ilus Davis park) as the 12th Street entrance is closed for construction. Give yourself extra time for security processing.

Meet-up: I will meet you in the 26th floor lobby outside the chambers around 1:30 pm or in the lobby on the 26th floor. Sometimes business sessions occur right before this meeting and can run late. The public is always welcome to enter and view any public meetings at city hall. The legislative session meeting begins around 2:00 pm with prayer, pledge of allegiance, roll call, and then special actions.

During Meeting: When your special action title is read by the clerk, your entire organization is invited to follow the clerk offices representative to stand behind the Mayor at the podium. Councilwoman Mayor Pro Tem, Parks-Shaw will speak on the special action followed by a vote. Once the special action passes, up to 2 people from your organization will have the opportunity to speak briefly to receive it. Once this is done, the Mayor will lead you in the direction of the City Manager to shake hands with them and with each Council member. The Mayor will hand a representative of your organization with the requested copies of the special action as you exit.

Watching Virtually: If you have individuals who cannot make it in person but would still like to watch, they can access the live stream via the City’s YouTube Channel - .
