About this event
Love food, farmers’ markets and knowing exactly what you’re putting in your basket? Join us for the first Good Food Hunt, the official launch of the Order of Feasts market tour series.
On Saturday, 14 November, we’ll explore the Kollwitzplatz market together. We’ll find out what’s truly in season right now and meet the founders of creative local food startups. Along the way you’ll learn how to choose the best seasonal and organic produce. It’s a relaxed, fun morning for home chefs of every level, curious eaters and anyone who wants to learn more about where good food comes from.
It’s completely free, and the group is limited to 7 people, so it stays personal and everyone gets to ask questions. Spots go fast, so book yours now!
What we will hunt, explore & taste
- Vegetable stalls. Autumn’s best: kale, cabbages, squash, apples and pears. Find out what is local and what is imported, and learn what organic and Demeter labels actually mean.
- Kimchi. A family recipe from the 1950s, and why November is kimchi month in Korea.
- Cheese. Discover cheeses that only exist at this time of year, and why.
- Meet a chilli sauce maker. The story behind a small Berlin sauce brand.
- Seasonal fish. Where Berlin’s fish and seafood come from, and what’s in season. Oyster tasting is also available at the counter for an extra price.
- Seasonal mussels & frites. November is peak season for mussels, so that’s our lunch spot for the day. You’re also free to choose your own lunch spot, or skip lunch and carry on shopping on your own.
The Food Hunt takes about 2 hours, with an optional lunch afterwards. Free hot drinks (green tea and hot cider) will keep you warm along the way, and you’ll have time to shop at your favourite stalls.
About the location
Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg hosts one of Berlin’s best-loved Saturday markets, with around 74 vendors. You’ll find everything from organic farm produce and artisan cheese to street food, plus one dedicated tofu maker. We meet at Coffee Circle, right by the market.
About Order of Feasts
Order of Feasts is a Berlin-based community of food enthusiasts. We visit the city’s markets, check what’s in season and write guides that help home chefs find the best produce. Food Hunts are where the community meets in real life: we shop together, swap tips and celebrate the season.
About your host
Hi, I’m Masha! I’m a Russian-born Berliner who has lived in 10 countries, and I grew up in a family of foodies. My grandmother managed a grocery chain, my father ran bakeries and my mother is a small farmer. I worked in our family bakery business, then founded and exited a startup of my own. My mission is to help home chefs like me find the best produce in town while supporting small farmers and food startups.
Good to know
- Dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. We’ll be outdoors most of the time.
- Bring some cash, although some stalls accept cards.
See you at the market! 🍎🧀🦪
