Golf “Fore” Parkinson’s is a joint effort between the Russo family and the Light of Day Foundation.
Did you know that in the United States, Parkinson’s disease costs $25 billion a year alone for treatment, social security payments and lost income?
"It has been 12 years since my mother has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Before her diagnosis, we had little to no knowledge of its severity both physically and financially. The only thing we did know was that my mother, Joan Russo, was not going to let Parkinson's win. She planned to fight back and not only for herself, but for everyone else as well. She set out to raise awareness and funds to aid others like herself and help shape a better future for Parkinson's patients.
My mother is our inspiration as she tenaciously fights her disease every day. There has not been a therapy she wouldn't try regardless of how difficult or dangerous it might be. Surgery, medication, exercise and even boxing are roads our brave mom travels. Almost 10 years ago, she met Bob Benjamin, Parkinson’s patient and Light of Day Foundation founder. Bob made her feel right at home and let her know she had an ally in their united fight against Parkinson's. But their fights are not limited to just their personal battles as they both strive to help others afflicted with this, so far incurable disease, to live a full and rewarding life.
We have come together as our family, Bob Benjamin and the Light of Day Foundation to host our benefit golf outing, Golf "Fore" Parkinson's, at the Jumping Brook Golf Club in Neptune on October 12, 2026. All proceeds will benefit those affected by neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's Disease, the Parkinsonism’s PSP, ALS and the search to help find a cure and end to these diseases. You may find the details are below and we all cannot wait to see you there. My mother will be the first to greet you at the check in table!"
