A Nationwide Inter-University Policy Competition
13–14 November 2026 | Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)
Bangladesh is at a critical point in its development journey. From the rising cost of living and youth unemployment to traffic congestion, corruption, cybersecurity, and public safety, the country faces complex challenges that require innovative, evidence-based solutions.
Golden Snitch 2.0, organized by the Independent Economic Society (IES) of the Department of Economics at Independent University, Bangladesh, brings together university students from across the country to research, debate, and develop solutions to some of Bangladesh’s most pressing socio-economic and policy challenges.
This nationwide competition goes beyond traditional academic contests. Participants will transform their research and ideas into policy-oriented solutions, engage in structured debates, present their recommendations to experts, and gain exposure to real-world perspectives from economists, policymakers, industry leaders, and development practitioners.
What to Expect
📝 Policy Poster Competition
Teams will develop research-driven posters addressing selected economic, social, and development challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
🏛️ Policy Festival
The Top 50 posters will be showcased through a week-long Policy Festival at IUB, creating a platform for student research, public engagement, and knowledge exchange.
🎤 Policy Debate Competition
The Top 30 teams will advance to structured debate rounds, challenging their ability to analyse contemporary issues, defend arguments, and think critically under pressure.
💡 Policy Presentation
The Top 8 teams will present their policy recommendations before a panel of judges, academics, and industry experts. Finalists will be evaluated on the quality, feasibility, and potential impact of their proposed solutions.
🎙️ Expert Sessions & Panel Discussions
Participants and attendees will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished economists, policymakers, corporate leaders, development practitioners, and other experts through keynote sessions and panel discussions.
