About:
Ava Brennan is an experimental folk artist born and raised in Chicago. Inspired by fingerstyle players like John Fahey and Nick Drake, as well as avante-garde artists like Laurie Anderson and Esperanza Spaulding, her unique songwriting dwells somewhere in the whimsical realm of prog-folk. She released her second single, "Event Horizon," in June of 2026.
"Ava Brennan is one of the best guitarists in Chicago... “Event Horizon” is just below the tip of the iceberg; the sound of breaking the surface tension of consciousness. Brennan’s chord progressions are captivating and her lyrics hypnotic as she slips beneath with meditative clarity." (Post-Trash)"You're not a true Chicago local music lover until you've heard the magnetic tunes of Ava Brennan... Community-driven, their art and activism are intimately tied together."
