About this Event
God in a Watermelon - A Poetry Special
About the event
Sometimes we live in the past or the future and need a place where we don’t have to correct our emotions . . . we can just be. Here’s to the art that wishes to welcome your emotion as if it weren’t an error but a necessity.
This is a one-hour live poetry special with no other art form mixed, only minutes and minutes of poetry. Performed by artist guvu, it creates a space for the audience to connect with emotions rarely accepted in society.
Doors open at 5:30 pm. The show starts at 6 pm.
Kind reminder: This is not an open mic.
About the poet
guvu is a poet who has performed on over 100 stages. She began writing at an early age and published her first book at 15 and her second at 18. Recently, she completed a poetry manuscript titled God in a Watermelon, from which she performs her work. Through this poetry special, she hopes to create a space where poetry becomes a source of belonging in a fragmented world. This is her first poetry special; an attempt to create an experience where people can feel better, not by getting rid of their human emotions, but by allowing them to exist.
