Yes, there will be actual goats on your yoga mat. That is the whole point.
Welcome to Goat Yoga by Yoga Kawa in Markham. It is exactly what it sounds like: a room full of people attempting gentle yoga while a crew of mini goats wanders through, investigates your water bottle, and occasionally uses your back as a stepping stone. It is absurd. It is also genuinely one of the best Sunday afternoons you can have in the east GTA.
Here's how the hour breaks down:
- 35 minutes of easy, beginner-friendly yoga
- 20 minutes of open time with the goats, including petting, photos, and the occasional surprise hoof
- 5 minutes of sharing circle
Why people keep coming back
Goat yoga is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, and that is precisely why it works. There is no way to take yourself too seriously when a mini goat is sniffing your ear mid-downward dog. The laughter is real, the connection is real, and by the time the hour is up, your nervous system just... exhales. People leave with sore cheeks from smiling and at least one photo they will be showing people for months.
A note on the goats
These mini goats are friendly, social, and genuinely comfortable around people. They have been raised around humans and are used to the energy of a yoga class. They are curious and confident, and yes, they may decide to stand on your back during a pose. It is not aggressive. It is just a goat being a goat. Think of it as a very unconventional massage.
A few good-to-knows
Wear something you do not mind getting a little dusty or hoof-printed. Clean, comfortable fitness attire is the move. Kids ages 5 and up are welcome at this session. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who also participates in the class and helps their child move gently and interact with the goats with care.
Mats provided. No experience needed. Just show up ready to laugh at yourself a little and let a mini goat make your Sunday.
