Glenn Jones comes to Glow Hall on Wednesday, September 23, with 2 opening sets by Liam Grant and Kalamazoo Drone Society.First known for his work with the genre-defying rock group Cul de Sac, Glenn Jones has gone on to become one of the defining American Primitive guitarists of the early 21st century. His solo work is deeply melodic, physical, and exacting, carrying the weight of folk tradition without treating it like a museum piece.
Liam Grant is a New England guitarist and improviser working from the same wide-open American Primitive lineage, with restless guitar explorations, modal epics, and uptempo rags that recall John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Peter Walker, and Jack Rose.
Opening the night, local treasures Kalamazoo Drone Society brings together a rotating collective of Kalamazoo musicians, artists, and magicians for occasionally structured, experimental free improvisation.
