Cityscapes at Night, A Photowalk with Kate Hailey and Fujifilm
Join Seattle photographer Kate Hailey and Fujifilm Field Product Technical Expert Tommy Spencer for an evening photowalk at Pike Place Market.
Discover the shift in stories as the market closes down as the light dissipates. The neon is vibrant, the shadows mysterious. This is an evening of intention, as we meander through the market and nearby area to capture the after-hours life and scenery.
Kate and Tommy will share tips on capturing unique and creative photos of the environment, including the best camera settings and compositional inspiration. As well as discuss using higher ISO’s for handheld street scenes or slowing the shutter speed down a little to capture light trails, or intentional camera movement.
Sunset is at 7:03 PM, our meeting time will allow for a little golden hour into sunset and the night.
Tommy from Fujifilm will have limited loaner gear for attendees to check out.
WHAT TO BRING
- Your favorite camera and lens combo, with fully charged battery
Recommended focal lengths: wide-angle, for urban landscapes, 35-50mm for classic street photography - Tripod & Shutter Release Cable (optional)
- Rain cover (just in case of drizzle)

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR - KATE HAILEY
Kate Hailey is a Seattle-based photographer and artist specialising in portraiture, lifestyle, and travel imagery. With a career rooted in storytelling and lighting, she captures authentic moments that highlight the beauty of people and places.
Beyond the lens, Kate explores her artistic side through watercolour painting, blending her love for creativity across mediums. An active educator and community builder, she leads workshops, photowalks, and photo tours, inspiring others to see the world through an artistic lens.
Kate is on the faculty at Photographic Center Northwest, and is the current Chapter President for ASMP Seattle/NW.
