Give It A Shot (2026) Film Screening & Panel Discussion
Join the Dalla Lana School of Public Health's Centre for Global Health and the Faculty of Law's International Reproductive and Sexual Health Law Program at the University of Toronto for a screening of Give It A Shot, followed by an engaging panel discussion exploring the politics, gender dynamics, and global forces shaping contraceptive research and reproductive health technologies.
Directed and produced by award-winning filmmaker Vaishali Sinha, Give It A Shot examines the development of male contraception and the broader questions surrounding who bears responsibility for preventing pregnancy.
Following the screening, our panel will reflect on the film through perspectives from filmmaking, reproductive justice, feminist scholarship, and gender equality and non-discrimination law. The discussion will explore:
· The gendered distribution of contraceptive responsibility
· Reproductive autonomy, justice, and equity
· The role of gender stereotypes in reproductive health
· The global forces shaping which health technologies ultimately become publicly available
