Ceramic Gingerbread House Workshop
Join local artist Helen McCormick for a cozy, creative day of festive cheer. Design and hand-build your very own ceramic gingerbread house—a perfect one-of-a-kind keepsake to add sparkle to your holiday season!
About the Workshop
Get into the holiday spirit with this festive, hands-on session. This workshop is designed to be a relaxed space where you can connect with fellow makers while learning new skills.
- Morning Session: You will design and hand-build your house using traditional slab-building techniques (no sticky icing required!).
- Afternoon Session: You’ll add the magic by decorating your house with colourful slips, festive patterns, and charming Christmas details.
No prior experience is necessary; I will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.
What’s Included
- All clay, slips, tools, and equipment.
- Tea and coffee provided throughout the day.
- Professional glazing and kiln firing of your finished piece.
What to Bring
- A packed lunch.
- An apron and old clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty.
The Firing & Glazing Process
After the workshop, I will take your gingerbread house to my studio to be kiln-fired. I will then apply a clear glaze to your work, which makes the piece stronger, more durable, and brings the colours to life.
Collection: Your creations will be ready to collect from The Walronds approximately 6 weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with specific dates and times.
Please note: Finished work can be stored for up to 6 months before being donated to charity or discarded.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
I understand that plans can change, but as a small micro business (only me), last-minute cancellations are difficult to fill. My policy is as follows:
- 14 days or more before the event: Full refund of the ticket price provided.
- 7 to 13 days before the event: Full refund ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee) OR a ticket transfer to a future workshop of the same value.
- 3 to 7 days before the event: 75% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers.
- 2 days (48 hours) before the event: 50% refund of the ticket price ONLY if I am able to fill your space (minus the booking fee). No ticket transfers.
- Less than 48 hours or No-shows: No refunds or transfers can be offered.
If I have to cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

Venue: The Walronds, Cullompton.
FREE Parking: Available at the rear of the building.
- Directions: Turn up Tiverton Road from the High Street, then turn left onto Shortlands Lane (just before the fire station). Follow the narrow lane, turn left at the car park sign, and go through the gate.

I have been creating objects from clay for over 30 years and still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about sharing my skills and experience with others, whether it's your first time touching clay or you're looking to develop further.I am a fully qualified Art and Design teacher with a Master’s degree in Ceramics and hold an enhanced DBS check.
