Monthly spoken word gathering, hosted by Mayu Rousant. We’re back at Chaplin’s & The Cellar Bar on Tue 20th Oct from 8pm — and this one is a VERY special edition of Getting Poetical! ✊🏼
We are absolutely delighted to welcome Bassie Gracie as our headline act! 🔥
Bassie Gracie is a punk performance poet known for her musical musings, feel good feminism and general silliness. Frequently found shoeless on the Monday of a music festival telling a 70 year old geezer ‘punk was better in my day’.
Bassie is bringing her Poetry for Optimists show to Getting Poetical as part of her tour, and we can’t wait to share this brilliant performance with our poetical community.
🌟 POETS, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU TOO! 🌟
There will still be an open mic, and we’d love to hear your voices alongside Bassie Gracie's. We’re inviting you to write around the theme ‘Poetry for Optimists’ so bring us your hopeful, joyful, rebellious, ridiculous, optimistic words!
There will be limited open mic spaces on the night so that we can make sure we have plenty of time to enjoy Bassie Gracie's full performance.
🎩 Our legendary Chaplin’s Hat will be waiting — first come, first served, so come early, get your name in the hat and grab yourself a spot on the mic.
Whether you’re a regular Getting Poetical face, a first-time poet, a lover of live performance, or simply fancy spending a Tuesday night surrounded by good people and good words…
Come and get poetical with us!
