Join First Lutheran Church and the FM Coalition to End Homelessness for two days of learning, conversation, and community engagement focused on how we can better understand and respond to homelessness in our community.The event will feature Kevin Nye, a nationally recognized speaker and author on homelessness and co-founder of the National Faith Coalition to End Homelessness. Kevin's work explores the intersection of homelessness, housing, faith, and community, with a focus on moving beyond common misconceptions toward responses rooted in dignity and effective solutions.
Throughout Friday and Saturday, community members and local service providers will have opportunities to learn more about homelessness, hear from those working within the homelessness response system, connect with local organizations, and consider how each of us can play a role.

Local service providers are invited to a roundtable discussion with Kevin Nye. This time is specifically designed for those working within the system to share ideas, challenges, and solutions while building connections with other providers.
Documentary Screening & Discussion | 6:30-8:30pm

Viewing of the documentary, “Homesick: A Moral Call to Change the Narrative for the Unhoused, followed by a book reading and discussion with Kevin Nye, based on his work and publications.

Experiential Activity & Update on Homelessness | 10-11:30am
Tabletop virtual simulation of homelessness facilitated by Kevin Nye followed by an update on the current state of homelessness in the FM area, presented by Chandler Esslinger.
Lunch & Resource Fair | 11:30-1pm
Lunch will be available for purchase through Heart n Soul Community Café, a local organization that is committed to addressing food insecurities, building communities, and providing delicious food to nurture body, heart, and soul.
Keynote Address | 1-2pm
Getting it Right in the Call to End Homelessness, keynote address by Kevin Nye.
Resource Fair | 2-2:30pm
Panel Discussion | 2:30-3:30pm
Panel discussion, including those who have the lived experience of homelessness, individuals who work within the system, and Kevin Nye, facilitated by Chandler Esslinger, Executive Director of the FM Coalition to End Homelessness.
Event Wrap-Up | 3:30-3:45pm
Brief review of what we learned – where we go from here, with Kevin Nye.
