About this Event
Getting Better Together Workshop
October 17, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Designed for firefighters, first responders and their spouses - adult family members (parents, siblings, or adult children) are also welcome to attend.
Firefighters and first responders carry the weight of trauma and high-stress calls - and so do the spouses who support them at home. Getting Better Together is a workshop built specifically around the realities of first responder life, giving firefighting families real tools to strengthen their relationships and protect their well-being together.
What you will gain:
- A better understanding of how first responder culture - the shift work, the calls, the unspoken rules - shapes family life and relationships
- Practical techniques for managing stress and secondary trauma specific to first responder households
- Stronger communication skills within the family
- A safe space to talk openly about mental health, free of the stigma that persists in first responder culture
- Sustainable self-care habits you can actually stick with
- Ongoing support resources built for first responder families, to lean on long after the workshop ends
Come together, reconnect, and leave with a stronger foundation to face the demands of the job - as a couple and family.
Lunch sponsored by National Police Federation (NPF).
