Autumn 2023: Two journalists meet online to narrate the Palestinian Nakba of 1948. Mike is WelshJewish and can’t enter Gaza Sami is Palestinian and can’t escape.
Mike’s uncle was in the militia that drove Sami’s mother from her home in Palestine. In Sami ’s narration of her refugee life in Gaza, Mike hears echoes of his own mother’s Holocaust dislocation and loss.
Suddenly their talk of Sami’s dream of coexistence is shattered by the Hamas invasion and Israel’s genocidal siege. Sami now narrates a second Nakba: his family, deprived of water, food, medicine, repeatedly fleeing bombing, and then a ‘ceasefire’ bringing more despair, as Sami movingly documents how lives, dignity and hope are still being destroyed.
The 2026 Edition of this film, following UK recognition of Israel’s illegal occupation and ethnic cleansing, shows the human realities of genocide through Sami’s eyes.
