Gatherings: The Altered Book Workshop Series: Over three inspiring weeks, participants will transform a discarded or worn book into a deeply personal work of art using mixed media, collage, paint, cutting, folding, and creative reconstruction techniques This hands-on series invites adults to explore storytelling, texture, and intuitive design while learning inventive methods for repuposing printed pages into expressive visual narratives Each session builds on the last, guiding particiants from concept to a fully altered book they will be proud to share. Judy Nemer Sklar is an artist, writer, and expressive arts facilitator with an M.A. in Art, and she is completing her second M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy.
Stidents should bring a preselected, preloved hard covered book with a sewn in spine (not a glued spine), Small jar Mod Podge, One Inch Utility brush. Feel free to bring your favorite watercolor pencils or a brush and a few tubes of watercolor paints.
