Welcome to the Garden Gateway Workshop!
Garden Gateway Workshops combine hands-on gardening education with nutrition and cooking demonstrations designed to give participants practical skills they can use at home.
This month’s gathering focuses on our connection to the soil we build and making a seasonal elixir for the cold months ahead.
Garden Topic – Building Healthy Soil & Composting
This month we are building and maintaining healthy soil through composting. Guests will learn how organic materials can be transformed into valuable compost that supports soil fertility, moisture retention, and healthy plant growth. The session will cover basic composting principles, balancing materials, maintaining moisture and airflow, recognizing finished compost, and practical methods that can be adapted for home gardens, containers, and raised beds.
Nutrition/Cooking Topic – Fire Cider: Cold Season Herbs & Fresh Foods for Health
The nutrition and cooking session will feature Fire Cider, a vinegar-based infusion made with fresh herbs, roots, peppers, and other flavorful ingredients. Guests will learn how to prepare and combine the ingredients, how to infuse the mixture, and different ways to use Fire Cider in the kitchen. The session will also highlight seasonal herbs and fresh foods commonly used during the colder months.
In order to help us better prepare for accurate numbers of attendees, we are asking for a small deposit ($7) to register for the workshop. Once you attend, you will receive a voucher to spend the deposit at the Village Market Place. If the deposit is prohibitive, you may request a waiver by emailing [email protected]. Please note: waiver recipients who are no-shows the day of the workshop will not be eligible to receive a waiver for future workshops.
- Vouchers are redeemable at any time before the final workshop in June 2027.
- They can be used separately, or together.
- Vouchers cannot be replaced.
