Join mayamada for Games Industry Explained: Make It Make Sense - part of the "Do I Look Like A Gamer?" campaign! This edition is about getting our heads around the recent UKIE Games Industry Census, asking why an industry worth £8.8 billion can still feel so uncertain for people who've just started their careers, or who are still trying to get in.

Over an industry-focused roundtable, our panel will work through three key areas shaping the industry right now:

1. Challenges of Junior Talent - the realities of getting into the industry, and staying in it once you're there.
2. Diversity in Games - whether progress on representation is stalling or going backwards, and how we improve it.
3. The Cost of Gaming - what rising prices mean for the players we sell to, and for aspiring developers who can't afford to play the games they want to make.

We'll then open the floor for Audience Q&A, so bring your questions in person, drop them in the mayamada Discord, or post using #GamesIndustryExplained on social media, and we'll put them to the panel live.

Who's this for? Together, the roundtable will unpack the report's findings, explore the gap between the sector's headline value and people's lived experience, and consider what today's landscape means for careers in game development, design, marketing and beyond.

"Do I Look Like A Gamer?" is mayamada's annual campaign challenging stereotypes in gaming culture and working to promote diversity across the industry, and this event builds directly on that track record - including previous events delivered in partnership with leading studios such as Rocksteady, Payload Studios and King.

We are working to empower future generations of diverse talent and raise awareness of career paths in gaming. We also provide opportunities for aspiring professionals to develop key skills through inclusive, community-focused events, and you'll hear about them all live on the mayamada Twitch and YouTube channels.

Nigel and Tazziii will be taking the lead in a discussion with a diverse panel of professionals and practitioners from across the gaming industry, ranging from major companies to indie developers and solo creators. Our panel will be announced closer to the event date. Following the panel discussion, they'll facilitate a Q&A session, giving you the chance to ask your own questions.

If you can't make it in person, you can still be part of the event by tuning into the mayamada Twitch channel, where you can watch live and send in your questions through the interactive chat. But we'd love to see you in the room if you can. In-person spaces are limited to 30, and it's the best way to meet our panellists and the mayamada team face-to-face, get your questions answered directly, and stick around to network afterwards. Instructions on how to join the livestream will be sent to ticket holders prior to the event's start.
