Oakhenge Houses of Healing | Cambridge, Ontario
Create something beautiful. Honour someone special. Become part of a new Oakhenge Yule tradition.
A Little Yuletide Magic, Made by Hand
There is something truly special about the ornaments we bring out each year.
Some remind us of childhood Christmases, others of people we love, and still others of beautiful moments we wish we could hold onto forever.
This Yule season, we invite you to create something that carries a little more meaning.
Join us at Oakhenge Houses of Healing as we welcome back the wonderfully talented Tracy from Loewan Glassworks for a festive afternoon of creativity, connection, and the luminous beauty of fused glass.
Surrounded by the warmth of the Oakhenge Yurt and the beauty of the winter season, you'll explore the art of fused glass while creating three unique ornaments, each with its own story.
Two ornaments will be yours to take home and treasure, while the third will become part of something deeply meaningful: the Oakhenge Yule Memorial Tree.
This isn't simply a craft workshop. It's an invitation to slow down during the busy holiday season, create with intention, and celebrate the memories and connections that make this time of year so special.
Discover the Beauty of Fused Glass
Fused glass is a beautiful art form that brings together pieces of coloured glass, carefully arranged into unique designs and transformed through the heat of a kiln.
The result is something truly magical.
Rich colours, luminous textures, and layers of shimmering glass come together to create ornaments that catch the light and sparkle throughout the season.
Under Tracy's guidance, you'll explore the creative possibilities of working with glass, choosing colours, arranging your designs, and creating ornaments that reflect your own personality and sense of wonder.
Whether you love the traditional imagery of evergreen trees and snowflakes, the woodland magic of mushrooms, or simply want to play with colour and light, this workshop offers an opportunity to make something uniquely yours.
What You'll Create
During this special workshop, you'll design three fused glass ornaments.
Two Ornaments to Take Home
Create two beautiful pieces to add to your own Yule or Christmas decorations.
Hang them on your tree, display them in a window, or give one as a meaningful handmade gift to someone you love.
Each ornament will be a unique reflection of your creativity and a reminder of the afternoon you spent making it.
One Ornament for the Oakhenge Yule Memorial Tree
Your third creation will become part of a very special Oakhenge tradition.
As we gather to celebrate the return of the light at Yule, we also make space to remember those whose love and presence continue to shape our lives.
Our Yule Memorial Tree will hold handmade ornaments created in remembrance of loved ones, both human and animal, who are no longer physically with us.
You are invited to create a small ornament in honour of someone who holds a place in your heart.
Perhaps it will represent a parent, grandparent, partner, friend, beloved animal companion, or another soul whose memory you wish to celebrate.
Your ornament will become part of a collective expression of remembrance, love, and connection within the Oakhenge community.
Together, we will create a tree that honours not only the turning of the season, but the beautiful lives and relationships that continue to illuminate our own.
The Meaning of Yule
Yule marks the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year and the beginning of the sun's gradual return.
Across many nature-based spiritual traditions, it is a time to honour the cycles of darkness and light, rest and renewal, endings and beginnings.
It reminds us that even in the deepest darkness, the promise of returning light remains.
Our Memorial Tree reflects this beautiful understanding.
We can carry our memories with tenderness while still making room for joy, creativity, laughter, and celebration.
In creating these ornaments, we honour both the beauty of the season and the enduring connections that give our lives meaning.
Meet Your Instructor: Tracy from Loewan Glassworks
We are delighted to welcome Tracy from Loewan Glassworks back to Oakhenge!
Tracy brings her creativity and love of glass artistry to this hands-on workshop, guiding participants through the process of designing their own fused glass creations.
With her instruction, you'll explore different colours, shapes, and design possibilities while creating ornaments that are truly one of a kind.
You don't need to consider yourself artistic to enjoy this experience.
Sometimes the most beautiful creations happen when we simply allow ourselves to play, experiment, and discover.

An afternoon to slow down.
To work with your hands.
