About this Event
We run a few events a year to FUNDRAISE to pay for our annual public liability insurance (£400) which allows us to run our 100+ FREE walks every year. We cannot do this without insurance. All proceeds from this event go towards that along with supporting Croydon RSPB. There is also a DONATION option if you're feeling super generous and LOVE ParkBathe.
This is a special 'bird listening' ParkBathe with John Birkett, BSc from Croydon RSPB.
John says: "I have been birdwatching for around 45 years, spending a lot of time looking at (and listening to) birds in the Croydon area. For my sins I have run the Croydon Bird Survey (for RSPB Croydon Local Group) for the last 30 years. I have also been involved in giving talks to other organisations on behalf of the Group."
- This session will be a slightly shorter ParkBathe walk followed by a BIRD SPOTTING session led by John. Tickets are donations only (we're asking for £20 per person which gets you a Croydon Bird Spotting Guidebook ! ) This is so we can support Croydon RSPB & ParkBathe. Bring your binoculars !
ParkBathe is a citizen-science project providing mindful walks and nature connection as a means to improve the health and wellbeing of people who might not normally engage in wellness activities. ParkBathe uses aspects of 'forest bathing', forest school and mindfulness and involves walking slowly in a local green space whilst noticing our surroundings (no water is involved!)
The 1 hr guided sessions consist of small groups (max 12 people) in South Norwood Lake and Grounds SE25.
We are an entirely voluntary project and our regular sessions are offered free with the option to DONATE. For guidance on regular walks on what to donate and our policy head HERE.
* We suggest you book up to 3 sessions so you gain the accumulative benefits and learn the techniques for yourself. Wear warm layers, sturdy shoes and wet weather gear as required (we go out in the rain!). Pls bring water/snacks/suncream according to season.
MEETING PLACE: The entrance to South Norwood Lake and Grounds off Maberley Road (by the playground) NOT the lakes cafe entrance.
