About this Event
This workshop is for all those interested in clown or comedy in any form. Whether that be pure clowning, stand up, alternative or improvised comedy.
The workshop will teach practical, performance aspects of clown, with plenty of time to get up and explore performing clown.
However, we will also look at the spiritual, alchemical, social and archetypal origins of the clown. Bringing more clarity to why we might be drawn to the comedien archetype as a form of expression, and how we can integrate and hold the sacred disruptor within our own psyches.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS WORKSHOP:
- Clowning exercises taught in the lineage of Ecole Phillippe Gaulier (where Nicola, the facilitator, trained for two years full time under Phillippe)
- An exploration of the Tarot as a map of consciousness. How to access and be comfortable residing in the state of consciousness that is The Fool, aka, the unknown, where all potentiality exists.
- Understanding and working with every room/audience as its own unique field/entitiy/egregore. How to work with the energy of a room in an alchemical way so that you can shift the consciousness of a room with skill.
- Exploring the liminality of the clown. How they are able to shape shift into any and all archetypes, feeling states, energies and personans.
- What it means to work with collective shadow and shame through humour. How to use humour as a banishing ritual.
- Looking at the four Alchemical stages of transformation: Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinatas, and Rubedo. How embodying the clown leads to us dissoliving our own ego through repeated offerings of public faliure.
WHO IS THIS FOR:
- This workshop is for anybody with an interest in clown, comedy, magick or alchemy. Whether you are a practicing performer or magician (or both) or not. If the themes interest you, you are welcome, with no expectation for you to perform.
- It is for beginner in any of these areas, or highly experienced people. The Fool encourages us to always weare a beginner's hat.
- People of any age (18+), race, gender, or sexual orientation.
