Blessed Fulton Sheen's lectures have been adapted by the Fulton Sheen Apostolate (recognized by the Archdiocese of San Antonio as an apostolic group) as a program for classroom learning. The Fulton Sheen Apostolate program is "not intended simply as a course for intellectual or theological development. It is designed as a structured spiritual journey." Individuals such as ACTS retreatants, OCIA catechumens, and any parishioner desiring enrichment and understanding would benefit greatly. The Simple Format: Listen • Share • Pray
Participants gather and:
LISTEN – Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen does the teaching through his original Life Is Worth Living presentation.
SHARE – Participants discuss what struck them personally: What did I hear? Why did it affect me? What is God asking me to consider?
PRAY – The group concludes by bringing what they have heard and shared before God in prayer.
Sheen teaches.
The group listens.
The Holy Spirit does the rest.
The 50-Lesson Journey
The complete Life Is Worth Living program consists of 50 lessons divided into five phases of 10 lessons each:
Phase I – Foundations of Human Dignity
The journey begins with the human person—the search for meaning, purpose, happiness, dignity, and the realization that the deepest questions of life ultimately point beyond ourselves toward God.
Phase II – Sin, Suffering & Redemption
Sheen confronts the reality of sin, guilt, suffering, brokenness, and the human need for redemption, gradually directing the participant toward Christ and the meaning of the Cross.
Phase III – Life in Christ & New Identity
The focus moves toward what happens when a person encounters Christ: conversion, grace, the sacramental life, and discovering a new identity rooted in Him.
Phase IV – Prayer, Interior Life & Perseverance
Participants are invited deeper into the spiritual life—developing prayer, an interior relationship with God, perseverance, and the habits necessary for a mature Christian life.
Phase V – Mission, Love & Transformation
al Living
The final phase turns outward. Having encountered Christ, the participant is challenged to love differently, live differently, recognize Christ in others, and accept a personal role in His mission in the world.
In this sense, the fifty lessons form an intentional progression:
Question → Encounter → Conversion → Prayer → Mission
