This exhibition presents the Atkins family tree, stretching across the gallery wall to chart more than a century of leadership, industry management, and civic responsibility. The Atkins family built, owned, and operated the Atkins Building throughout its factory years from 1875 to 2002, shaping the industrial identity of Hinckley and contributing to the town’s economic and social life.
At the heart of the display are framed formal portraits of the family members who served on the company board, trade organisations, local charities, and other civic bodies. These photographs were originally taken to document their official roles and offer a rare visual record of this notable hosiery industry family’s public presence.
This exhibition is presented in partnership with Hinckley & District Museum and Hinckley Unitarians of the Great Meeting Chapel
