🍄 LEARN ABOUT MUSHROOMS
The event is free to attend, and you are welcome to stop by for as much or as little of the evening as you’d like. Educational demonstrations and information will be available throughout the event. A variety of mushroom-related items will also be available for purchase, including foraging gear, fresh and dried cultivated mushrooms, mushroom tinctures, and more.
🌱 GROW YOUR OWN
Hands-on activities are $10 per participant. This fee covers the materials and supplies used for the activity as well as the educators’ time and expertise.
Shiitake Log Making
Make your own shiitake mushroom log to take home and grow.
Wine Cap Mushroom Kits
Create a wine cap growing kit using wood chips and take it home to start your own mushroom patch.
🪵 BRING YOUR OWN LOG OR USE STORM-DAMAGED WOOD FROM THE PARK
If you would like to make a shiitake log and bring your own wood, please bring a fresh-cut hardwood log* that is:
Less than 3 feet long
6 inches or less in diameter
Made from hardwood, like oak, maple, or beech.
Small enough to be safely carried by one person
*Freshly cut logs are ideal. Please do not bring treated, painted, or otherwise chemically treated wood. No conifer or evergreen logs.
Don’t have a suitable log? No problem!
A limited supply of logs and fresh wood chips from trees that fell during the recent storms at Stackhouse Park will be available for an additional donation to the Park’s Storm Recovery Fund.
It’s a great way to give new life to some of the trees lost in the storm while creating something you can enjoy at home.
💚 HELP STACKHOUSE PARK RECOVER
Stackhouse Park suffered extensive damage during the recent storms, including damage to trees, trails, bridges, pavilions, and other park areas. This event is an opportunity to learn something new while helping the Park recover.
Attendance is FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated. Additional donations for hands-on activities and storm-damaged logs and wood chips will go toward the Stackhouse Park Storm Recovery Fund.
Come learn about fungi, make something you can grow at home, and help turn some of the storm’s fallen trees into something new.
