About this Event
Indian American philanthropy is entering a new chapter.
For many first-generation donors, giving to India has been deeply personal—supporting hometowns, schools, hospitals, religious institutions, or communities they know firsthand. As the next generation comes of age, that connection is evolving.
Younger Indian Americans may feel connected to India differently. Their giving can be shaped as much by identity, climate, gender equity, racial justice, or global social movements as by geography. They may want to give locally in the United States and globally, rather than choosing between the two.
As identity becomes more fluid and giving increasingly follows issues rather than geography, how can we build new pathways connecting diaspora donors with India's social sector?
This conversation explores both sides of that equation: How is Indian diaspora philanthropy changing—and what is actually needed to translate interest and intention into philanthropic capital reaching India’s social sector.
