Join us for our Labyrinth Soundscapes series, an immersive sound bath & labyrinth walk evening in celebration of community and sacred space.Welcome the new month ahead with a candlelit evening of live music, gentle movement, and community. As you follow the winding path of the labyrinth by soft candlelight, a rich live soundscape of crystal singing bowls and ambient tones fills the space, creating an atmosphere of gratitude, peace, and connection.
Walk the labyrinth as the music plays, or if you'd prefer stillness, bring a yoga mat or settle into a chair and let the sound wash over you as you rest. Everyone is welcome, whether this is your hundredth labyrinth walk or your very first. There's no right way to do this and no experience needed. Drop in for a little while or stay for the whole evening.
Schedule:
Last Friday of every month
7:00 pm: Doors open and live soundscape begins
8:30 pm: Music ends; labyrinth remains open for quiet walking until 9:00 pm
Doors close at 8:45 pm
New to labyrinths?
Walking a labyrinth is an ancient meditative practice, found in cultures around the world, used for centering, reflection, and finding clarity, especially during times of change. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has no tricks, no dead ends, and no wrong turns. There is a single winding path that leads to the centre and back out again, so you can let go of figuring out where you're going and simply walk.
Many people like to think of the walk in three parts: releasing what no longer serves you on the way in, pausing in the centre to rest and receive, and carrying whatever you've found with you on the way out. Others simply enjoy the quiet rhythm of their footsteps. Walk at whatever pace feels right. Many first-timers are surprised by how peaceful it is, and walking alongside others to live music gives the evening a lovely sense of shared experience.
Our labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth set into the stone floor of the 13th-century Chartres Cathedral in France.
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a relaxing, immersive experience in which you're "bathed" in sound and vibration. Crystal singing bowls produce long, clear, resonant tones that you can hear and often feel in your body, and on Friday evenings they're woven together with ambient sounds into a flowing soundscape. Sound has been used for meditation and self-care for centuries, and many people find it helps quiet a busy mind and ease the body into a deeply relaxed, almost dreamlike state. There's nothing you need to do but listen. In the glow of candlelight, it can be a lovely way to let go of the week behind you.
Good to know:
Shoes are removed in the labyrinth space, so you may want to wear comfortable socks.
Chairs are provided for anyone who would like to listen without walking, and there's space for yoga mats.
Bottled water is welcome; no other food or drinks, please.
A suggested cash donation of $15 toward labyrinth upkeep is appreciated if it's comfortably affordable for you.
