Come and learn the ever-popular Shim Sham - a solo jazz line dance routine that is danced socially around the world! Katie and Josh will be teaching the Shim Sham across 2 weeks to cater for complete beginners (Monday 15 June) and for those that may already know the routine but are keen to have a refresher or fine tune their rhythm and styling (Monday 22 June)*. Beginners are welcome to attend just the class on June 15 or come for both classes. Please note beginners should not attend the 22 June class if they have not attended on 15 June.Popularised in the 1980s by Frankie Manning, who adapted a tap performance originally choreographed by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant in the 1920s, it’s a great addition to any lindy hoppers learning journey.
Take a look at the Global Shim Sham video celebration that was put together to honour Frankie’s contributions to the international community as part of “Frankie 95” in 2009, the year that Frankie passed away.
Cost: $20 (1 hour class) or a tick off your Got That Swing class card.
