“Plants are a promise to the future. Our eucalypts are a big part of the promise. Our pollinators are critical to the promise.”Join commercial conservationist, bush traveler, agriculturalist, and author, Malcolm French, to share in his awe and wonderment of Perth's woodlands.
About Malcolm
Malcolm French began his interest in eucalypts in the 1980’s, when he grew eucalypts for his family farm at Rylstone in NSW. As the plants grew so did his interest in them, and it wasn’t long before he began growing more eucalypts and his desire to learn more about them became a passion.
Malcolm moved to Perth in 1993, which proved a bonus as the move provided the opportunity to study the vast diversity of eucalypts in WA alongside his work in agribusiness. In 1997 Malcolm published his first book on Western Australian eucalypts, The Special Eucalypts of Perth and the South-West.
Since 2008 Malcolm has been a Research Associate at the Western Australian Herbarium undertaking research, identifying eucalypt specimens and providing taxonomic advice. Malcolm co-authored with Dean Nicolle, Eucalypts of Western Australia: The South-west Coast and Ranges. His newest book, Eucalypts of WA - the Goldfields, has so many of what he calls amazing, so special eucalypts.
