Navigating cultural heritage, native title and land access in WA, and what it means for project delivery in practice.
About this Event

The AMEC Cultural Heritage to Native Title Forum, to be held on 18 June, will bring together government, legal and industry leaders to discuss one of the most significant issues facing the mining and exploration sector in Western Australia, land access.

As cultural heritage and native title processes continue to evolve, the forum will explore the practical implications for project approvals, agreements, timelines, cost and project delivery across the resources sector.

Confirmed speakers include the Western Australian Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Hon Don Punch MLA, Justice John Mansfield AM KC, and Mr Glen Kelly, Member of the National Native Title Tribunal, Perth.

Justice John Mansfield has been a significant figure in the development of native title in Australia, serving as Aboriginal Land Commissioner for the Northern Territory and bringing extensive experience in Aboriginal land matters. Mr Glen Kelly was instrumental in the negotiation of the Noongar Native Title Settlement, the largest native title settlement in Australian history.

Other confirmed speakers include:

• Warren Pearce, AMEC

• Damien Roe, HopgoodGanim

• TBC, Hetherington

• Claire McGowan, Mining Access Legal

More speakers to be announced.

The forum will examine the evolving intersection between cultural heritage, native title and project delivery in WA, including discussion around findings from the recent ACIL Allen report and what current reforms and policy discussions could mean in practice for explorers, developers, producers and advisers operating in Western Australia.

This is a timely opportunity to hear from leading voices across cultural heritage, native title and land access at a pivotal time for the sector.
