Please join us in celebrating the closing of Keeping Community, our summer long exhibition celebrating our partner organizations doing aligned work to amplify and uplift their communities.
In partnership with FREER Records we will screen the visual album, 9th and Gasoline by artist B. Alexis. This visual album is the first of its kind, making history as the first woman released album from a US Pr*son. For artist B. Alexis' music is her lifeline. Full of hard-won wisdom beyond her years, B. Alexis' lyrics come from the most raw and vulnerable place. In her testimony, she's unafraid to confront it all, as she has been since age 17 when she was sentenced to 30 years in Pr*son. On 9th & Gasoline, she exposes her darkest moments, relinquishes any sense of control and attempts to build herself from the debris of self destruction. B. Alexis takes us on the journey of a fast, desperate, callous young Black girl trying to land firmly in her faith, principles, and morals.
