About this Event
VIDALA — Women’s Self-Defence
Practical skills. Greater confidence. A supportive space created for women.
Would you like to feel more confident walking through London, travelling alone, setting boundaries or responding to an uncomfortable situation?
VIDALA’s women-only self-defence sessions are designed to give women practical, realistic skills in an encouraging and non-intimidating environment.
No previous martial arts experience is needed.
You do not need to already be fit, flexible, strong or confident. Complete beginners are welcome.
What will we work on?
Rather than focusing only on fighting techniques, VIDALA takes a broader approach to personal safety.
Depending on the session, training can include:
• Situational awareness and recognising potential danger
• Trusting your instincts
• Confident body language
• Verbal boundaries and using your voice
• Maintaining and creating distance
• Responding to grabs or physical confrontation
• Practical striking and defensive techniques
• Creating opportunities to escape
• Staying calm and making decisions under pressure
• Building confidence through realistic practice
The goal is not to teach you to seek confrontation.
The goal is to give you more options if you ever find yourself in a situation you did not choose.
Who is the class for?
VIDALA is for women of different ages, backgrounds, abilities and fitness levels.
You might join because you:
• have never learned self-defence before
• want to feel safer when travelling or walking alone
• would like to become more confident
• want to become stronger and more active
• are returning to exercise after becoming a mum
• want to do something positive for yourself
• simply want to learn useful skills in the company of other women
There is no expectation that you already know what you are doing. You’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace in a respectful and supportive environment.
About your instructor
VIDALA was founded by Vida, a mum with a background in martial arts, self-defence and professional security.
Vida holds a Security Door Supervisor licence, FREC Level 3 and First Aid qualifications. Her approach combines practical self-defence with awareness, confidence and personal safety rather than aggression or competition.
Her aim is simple: for women to leave VIDALA feeling stronger and more confident than when they arrived.
What should I wear?
Comfortable sportswear or clothing that allows you to move freely is ideal.
Bring water and come ready to learn. No martial arts uniform or specialist equipment is required unless stated for a particular session.
Come as you are. Start from where you are.
