October 14th is International E-Waste Day, a global initiative to raise awareness about the growing challenge of electronic waste and to inspire action. There are now more precious metals in our electronics' than left unmined in the earth. It's more important than ever that we keep our tech in circulation and salvage the resources we can when our electronics reach the end of their life. As a consumer it can be overwhelming trying to do the most good with the things we don't need anymore, that's where we come in.
At Te Aro Zero Waste we accept old electronics working or otherwise. If the donation is still working, we do our best to recondition and resell it. Keeping things in circulation is always the best option for our planet. In cases where the item can't be resold, we will strip it for parts and send it to one or more of our e-waste and recycling partners.
We accept e-waste during our opening hours 10-4pm Wednesday-Saturday at 2 Forrester's Lane, Te Aro, Te Whanganui-a-Tara. We can accept most items free of charge, with a few exceptions. However, in honour of International E-Waste Day for one day only we will be waving our e-waste fees. We have parking too!
Bring on down your unwanted tech and save some money while your save the planet.
