Children’s Day returns to The Stade with a joyful afternoon of stories, puppets, music and a Gruffalo‑themed parade, including a special guest invited by Axel Scheffler. Families can look forward to a high‑energy pirate show from CBeebies’ Pirate Gem, alongside a brilliant line‑up of performers and storytellers throughout the day.Axel Scheffler’s guest Tor Freeman joins us with her much‑loved books and illustrations. Long Nose Puppets present Penguin, a colourful and musical puppet adventure inspired by Polly Dunbar’s book, perfect for young children. Enjoy Caribbean storytelling with music and rhymes from Alliouagana Pearl, a swirl of stories and tunes from Xanthe Gresham Knight, magical Mermaid Tales on giant seahorses, Circo Rum Baba’s Pesky Pirates on stilts, and gentle immersive musical storytelling from Nightingale Music.
Sambalanco and Raven Drummers lead the carnival parade, filling the seafront with rhythm and colour. Children can also drop into a creative workshop to make colourful Gruffalo‑themed pieces to wear in the parade, and look out for Donna Fox’s beautiful hand‑painted costumes.
