Dr Sunil FELIX will present how France has come to consistently produce an average of 70% of its electricity through nuclear energy, and has managed to sustain a powerful nuclear industry as well as a robust nuclear supply chain since WWII, to become the first nuclear country in Europe and the second in the world.
In a global context characterized by global warming and energy security concerns, and in an American context of relaunching of nuclear projects, French and American experiences can surely benefit from enhanced cross-experiences.
His presentation (45min) will be followed by Q/A and a reception.
Biography
Dr. Sunil Felix took on the position of Nuclear Counsellor at the French Embassy in Washington DC on September 1, 2020.
Following a PhD and post-doctoral studies in Mathematics, Dr Felix joined the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA – France) in 1990.
Since then, he has been working as a research engineer in the field of Structural Analysis.
Along with the framework of his CEA activities, he also served as Nuclear Counsellor at the French Embassy in various countries, South Korea, India and Japan. In addition, he acted as Personal Assistant to the Chairman of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), an international R&D organization comprising more than 12 countries collaborating on future nuclear technologies, during its French Presidency, from 2006 to 2010.
Dr. Sunil Felix was awarded the National Order of Merit by the French National Authorities in 2015.
