ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR/À PROPOSE DE L'INSTRUCTRICE
Julia is a dancer, choreographer and professional facilitator with 15 years of interdisciplinary dance experience. Julia recently graduated from the masters of arts program with the institute of political economy at Carleton University. With a focus on environmental justice, Julia studies how systems of power, anthropocentric beliefs, and the degradation of our imagination work to deprioritize and delay climate action in Canada.
Julia is passionate about climate justice, progressive environmental policy, and the power of art to both translate knowledge and realize our agency in the era of the climate crisis. As a park interpreter for four years with Parks Canada in Banff, Vancouver Island and Gros Morne National Park, Julia has seen, first hand, the impact that ecological education has on raising awareness and catalyzing action. She believes that attention is the beginning of devotion and hopes this workshop allows us to build the interspecies empathy needed to push for bold climate action in Canada and beyond.

Julia est danseuse, chorégraphe et animatrice professionnelle avec 15 ans d'expérience en danse interdisciplinaire. Julia a récemment obtenu son diplôme de maîtrise ès arts à l'Institut d'économie politique de l'Université Carleton. En mettant l’accent sur la justice environnementale, Julia étudie comment les systèmes de pouvoir, les croyances anthropocentriques et la dégradation de notre imagination contribuent à déprioriser et à retarder l’action climatique au Canada.
Julia est passionnée par la justice climatique, les politiques environnementales progressistes et le pouvoir de l'art pour traduire les connaissances et réaliser notre action à l'ère de la crise climatique. En tant qu'interprète de parc pendant quatre ans pour Parcs Canada à Banff, sur l'île de Vancouver et dans le parc national du Gros-Morne, Julia a pu constater par elle-même l'impact de l'éducation écologique sur la sensibilisation et la mobilisation de l'action. Elle croit que l'attention est le début du dévouement et espère que cet atelier nous permettra de développer l'empathie interspécifique nécessaire pour promouvoir une action climatique audacieuse au Canada et au-delà.
