FORM ~ Movement: Life Drawing Workshop

As part of the closing event programming for FORM ~ Movement, experience a special 1-hour life drawing session focused on human movement, gesture and fluid form.

For this workshop, a dancer will perform as our life model, moving continuously through the space. Rather than drawing from static poses, you'll create free-flowing line drawings on transparent paper, exploring layering, rhythm and the energy of the body in motion.

After your drawing session, head downstairs to continue the good vibes with yummy drinks & pizza, DJs and light projection. Take your time exploring the exhibition, dance & catch up with local creatives :-)

Our dancer will move, stretch, shift and flow through a series of movements, allowing you to capture the figure as it moves through space.

Working with graphite on transparent paper, you'll build layered drawings. The session will be guided throughout, with prompts and exercises encouraging you to draw continuously and intuitively.

There is no expectation to create a “perfect” drawing. This session is about observation, experimentation and enjoying the process of drawing in motion.

We've got you covered, so please don't worry about bringing anything.

This workshop is designed for complete beginners and experienced artists alike.

If you've never attended a life drawing session before, this is a welcoming introduction. If you're already comfortable drawing the figure, it's an opportunity to explore movement, layering, gesture and fluid forms through a different process.

FORM ~ Movement is an exhibition showcasing artwork exploring the human form in movement.

Held at Flying Colours in West End from 6–20 September 2026, the exhibition brings together a collection of artists working across a range of visual mediums.

Curated by Studio Maverik, FORM ~ Movement explores the body as it shifts, stretches, flows and occupies space. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and other visual practices, the exhibition considers movement as both physical action and expressive language.

This life drawing workshop forms part of the exhibition's broader programming, inviting participants to engage directly with the themes of FORM ~ Movement through observation, experimentation and embodied drawing.

Street parking is available surrounding Flying Colours, but please allow plenty of time to find a spot.

Flying Colours is also accessible by bus and is approximately a 15-minute walk from South Bank train station.

Unfortunately, the upstairs studio level of the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
