'For The Beatniks - A Poetry Club Night' is a night to celebrate Beatnik Culture, in Poetry and environment
Hosted in cosy Clifton Community Bookshop surrounded by books, lamps, sat round on chairs and with Jazz on in the Background
But no - you don't have to be a beatnik to come! The night is for poetry writers and poetry lovers, and is for sharing, discussing, and socialising for fellow poets and poetry appreciators.
The evening will consists of two halves, and go as follows:
7pm - 7:15pm arriving, meeting each other and getting settled
7:15pm - 8pm Sharing poems round in a circle, either that you have written, on that you admire, with some context to them if desired
8pm - 8:45pm A group lead discussion with the host around process, inspiration, and our relationship to poetry and or being a poet
8:45pm - 9pm A chance to chat, clearing up, saying bye
Bring your own something to drink, depending on what suits you. There are mugs, glasses, a kettle, spoons, and a microwave there to use, and the choice is up to you. Whether that's a tea, wine, hot chocolate, sherry, or so on...
There is no pressure to 'perform', it is more about sharing the words with each other, and being ourselves. So do bring whatever you would like to read out in written down form, in whatever way feels best for you. Whether that's a book, notebook, phone, etc
Doors will close at 7:15pm, so that we can start. So do arrive at 7pm so that you can join!
There are toilets there, which can be used at any time. They are up a few steps so unfortunately are not accessible, however access to the bookshop itself is flat at street level so is accessible
Tickets £5 each via headfirst: https://hdfst.uk/e163133
