A PIECE OF LOCAL HISTORY IS COMING BACK TO LIFELIVINGSTON COUNTY — THIS IS SOMETHING SPECIAL.
We’re excited to announce the release of an extraordinary collection from the estate of Ezra Karse Foner, a longtime local antique dealer whose collection was connected with the Howell antique trade for decades.
Ezra was associated with Antiques on the River, 104 W. Grand River Avenue, a longtime antique business in downtown Howell. The collection includes antiques, architectural pieces, photographs, signs, documents and other items gathered throughout his years as a dealer.
Much of the remaining collection was subsequently left stored away for years — with many pieces sitting untouched for more than 25 years.
Now, following Ezra's passing, these items are finally being brought back into the community.
THIS IS MORE THAN AN ANTIQUE SALE.
Among the collection are pieces connected to the history of local businesses, buildings and transportation, including:
• Historic local business signs
• Old Howell photographs
• Original blueprints and architectural documents
• Vintage business advertising and memorabilia
• Railroad / GTW-related pieces
• Architectural salvage from historic properties
• Antique furniture and display fixtures
• Rare collectibles and decorative arts
Some of these pieces represent businesses and places that no longer exist, making them especially meaningful to longtime area residents and local-history collectors.
This is an opportunity to keep pieces of that history in the community rather than watching them disappear into private collections elsewhere.
