Agenda Day 1

🕑: 09:00 AM - 10:40 AM
Basics of Foreign Asset Reporting (2 CE)

Info: U.S. taxpayers with foreign financial interests face a maze of overlapping reporting regimes — FBAR (FinCEN Form 114), FATCA (Form 8938), and information returns for foreign trusts, gifts, and business interests. This course walks practitioners through when each requirement applies, how the thresholds and filing triggers differ, and where clients most commonly fall into noncompliance. It covers penalty structures and the IRS's current options for taxpayers who missed a filing.

🕑: 11:00 AM - 12:40 PM
Foreign Earned Income Exclusion Overview (2 CE)

Info: The foreign earned income exclusion (FEIE) under §911 provides substantial tax benefits for U.S. taxpayers living and working abroad. However, eligibility rules and calculations are complex and often misunderstood. This course provides a practical overview of the FEIE, covering qualification requirements, the bona fide residence and physical presence tests, the mechanics of Form 2555, and the housing exclusion.

🕑: 02:00 PM - 03:40 PM
Best Practices for Preparing Problem Tax Returns (2 CE)

Info: Not every return is timely filed with perfect information. Practitioners often struggle with missing, unavailable, or incorrect information, or late-filed tax returns – or clients with both! This course reviews both of these situations and how the practitioner can help the client to the best of their ability while maintaining a commitment to accuracy and ethics.

Agenda Day 2

🕑: 09:00 AM - 10:40 AM
Ethical Issues in AI and Technology Use (2 CE)

Info: Artificial intelligence and automation tools are rapidly changing how tax and accounting professionals research issues, draft communications, and manage client data — and existing ethical frameworks weren't written with these tools in mind. This course examines how Circular 230 applies to AI-assisted work, including due diligence, competence, confidentiality, and supervision obligations when using generative AI, automated research tools, and client data platforms. Practitioners will leave with a practical approach to evaluating new technology tools in light of their existing professional responsibilities.

🕑: 11:00 AM - 12:40 PM
Tax Planning for Seniors and Retirees Pt 1 (2 CE)

Info: This course teaches tax professionals practical strategies to reduce tax liability for senior and retired clients. Participants will explore Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) optimization, tax-efficient charitable giving, and recent OBBBA senior deductions. The course examines the mechanics of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for retirees, including deductible medical expenses such as long-term care insurance premiums and nursing care. Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and Roth conversion planning round out multi-year strategies. Beyond mechanics, attendees will gain a structured engagement process for senior tax planning, from discovery to implementation.

🕑: 02:00 PM - 03:40 PM
Tax Planning for Seniors and Retirees Pt 2 (2 CE)

Info: See Part 1 for description.
