The Fix-It Fair is a FREE community event hosted by Lackawanna County, the City of Scranton, and Johnson College. Held on November 14, 2026, in recognition of America Recycles Day on November 15, the event will bring residents of Lackawanna County and surrounding communities together to repair broken or damaged household items instead of throwing them away.The FREE fair gives community members a chance to reduce waste, save money, build relationships, and develop practical repair skills. It reinforces the idea that fixing and reusing items can be better for both our communities and the environment, while giving people a chance to share knowledge and learn new skills.
Hosting the event at Johnson College also reflects the vision of the College's founder, Orlando S. Johnson, who established the school to teach young men and women useful arts and trades and prepare them to become contributing members of society. The Fix-It Fair carries that spirit forward by bringing people together to put practical skills to work, learn from one another, and have a positive impact in the community.

Learn a New Skill
Want to learn how to fix things yourself? Johnson College's WAVE (Workforce Advancement & Value-Added Education) department will offer free, 20-30 minute beginner-friendly workshops designed to help you build practical skills and confidence.
Workshops will cover:
• Replace an outlet/switch
• Optimize your computer
• Wall Repair
• Resume building / mock interviews
• Pet Nail Trimming
• Basic First Aid
• How to use a multimeter
• Hand-embroider your jeans
• Body Mechanics
• Soldering
• Space Planning
Workshop registration will open soon. You can choose a workshop to attend before, after, or while your item is being repaired.

There will be more than repairs at the Fix-It Fair! Enjoy free activities for the whole family, including puppet shows, cornhole, and more.
A Few Things to Know
Our fixers will do their best to repair your items, but not every repair can be guaranteed. Some repairs may require specialized tools, equipment, or materials that aren't available at the event. If an item cannot be repaired, our fixers may be able to diagnose the problem, explain how you can fix it yourself, or recommend a local business that can help.
