🥾 Description
This scenic and storybook inspired hike through the beautiful landscapes of the Medway Valley and Ashdown Forest. This circular hike begins with gentle undulating hills north of the river, offering peaceful countryside views before descending into the charming village of Withyham, home to its historic parish church.

From there, we head south into the expansive Buckhurst Estate and onward into the enchanting Five Hundred Acre Wood. As we climb steadily through woodland and along the rim of a wide valley, you’ll find yourself immersed in the very landscapes that inspired the Winnie-the-Pooh tales. Keep an eye out for familiar spots just don’t fall into a Heffalump trap :)
A highlight of the hike is a panoramic viewpoint in Ashdown Forest, marked by a plaque honoring A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard. We then descend to the iconic Pooh Sticks Bridge.

The route continues into Hartfield, a picturesque village closely tied to Milne’s life, with a chance to visit Pooh Corner for themed treats and souvenirs.
