Fireside Chat with David Fialkow
David is Co-Founder and Managing Director of venture firm General Catalyst ($50B+ AUM) and is an Academy Award winning Documentary Filmmaker. General Catalyst partners with founders on their journey building world class businesses focused on responsible innovation. David's areas of focus include fintech, defense, digital health, and data analytics.
David and his wife, Nina, produce documentary films. Two of their films, Icarus and Navalny, each won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Navalny also won the BAFTA. Their other films include Sugarcane, American Symphony, The Great Hack, Beyond Utopia, The Vow, Bending the Arc, Retrograde, Aftershock, The Grab, Citizen Ashe, and others. David's newest film, Everest: The Other Side, will be released in November. It is the amazing story of two climbers ascending the North Face of Everest and skiing down; the first athletes to accomplish this.
David is a trustee of the MIT Corporation and is co-founder and chair of Engine Ventures, an MIT fund focused on tough tech.
David's philanthropic focus includes raising millions of dollars to support kids' programs by participating in biking, running, skiing, climbing, and rowing challenges. His nonprofit boards include MIT, the Pan-Mass Challenge, and the Vineyard Youth Foundation.
David graduated from Colgate University and Boston College Law School.
