About this Event
Reclaim your beloved cashmere and merino through the magic of mending ! Students will learn how to close and cover small holes in fine knits - like cashmere and merino - and also how to darn or add patches to thin and worn out areas - such as the elbows in fine knit sweaters. We will have swatches available for practice but students are also welcome to bring in their own damaged knitwear for consultation, and even potentially on site repair ! The skills in this class will work with any fine woolens - including socks and woven scarves !
No knitting skills required! It helps if students already have some familiarity with sewing, but even absolute beginners can succeed in this class. All materials are included.
This class is for students 14 and up. Children ten and up are welcome with a paying accompanying adult.
Instructor Cirrus Wood is a self-taught artisan who enjoys coming up with and learning new techniques to make clothing more visually appealing and more durable. He runs the mending and tailoring business Dollars & Yen which came about after years of casually combining elements of both Japanese and American design in his own wardrobe.
