About this Event
Welcome to "Finding The Ability To Cope When Life Is Hard" event!
Speaker: Dr. Abby Ampuja
Supporting someone who is struggling with mental health challenges can be meaningful and rewarding—but it can also be stressful, unpredictable, and emotionally demanding. It is easy to become so focused on supporting others that you lose touch with your own needs.
In this interactive introduction to wellness and resiliency, we’ll explore how ongoing stress can affect our minds, bodies, and ability to cope; what it means to move in and out of our “Resilient Zone”; and how protective factors can help us maintain greater balance during difficult times.
This presentation offers a practical framework for caring for ourselves while continuing to care about—and support—the people around us.
Dr. Abby Ampuja has been a teacher since 2001. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a certified Community Resiliency Model (CRM) teacher and is passionate about sharing resiliency-informed practice both with individuals and groups in her community.
