Finding My Roots Creative Nature Workshops
Join the Lo-Fi Alchemists for a series of fully funded & free seasonal, sensory & nature-based workshops that celebrate Wakefield's rich botanical heritage & outdoor landscapes. Discover traditional dyeing techniques inspired by mediaeval crafts, explore foraging, and transform natural & recycled materials into beautiful, handcrafted artworks.
- We can help you with your public travel costs too! Please bring your travel receipts with you.
- All the materials will be provided but please bring your own should you wish.

Finding My Roots Project Launch Day- SOLD OUT
Saturday 12 September, 11am-2pm - , WF1 5NU
Explore the colours hidden within hedgerow as we forage berries to create dyes for silk & cotton threads, cotton fibres & upcycled cotton cloth before painting unique bookmarks with the dye along with other natural paint & pigments.
Saturday 19 September, 11am-2pm - Green Tracks Enterprise, WF1 5NU
Create a dyepot from Coreopsis flowers & discover the magic of cloth bundle dyeing. Using foraged plants & flowers, fleece, linen, silk & cotton, you'll wrap & dye fabrics to reveal beautiful organic patterns & colours.
The session also includes bookmark painting using handmade dyes and natural pigments.
Saturday 3 October, 11am-2pm - Green Tracks Enterprise, WF1 5NU
Learn how to create a natural dyepot from Buddleia before dyeing fabrics & fibres with the colours you make. Then weave with foraged materials including honeysuckle, clematis, ivy, grasses, twigs, wool & fleece, using willow frames to create your own unique nature-inspired artwork. Finish by decorating project bookmarks with handmade dyes & natural paints.
Friday 30 October, 10am-2pm - - Halloween Half Term
Join the Lo-Fi Alchemists for a free drop-in workshop packed with Halloween-inspired creative activities for all ages. Experiment with "magic plant potions”, earth pigments, natural dyes & the Castle’s plant life.
